I have decided to give this challenge a go.. To take one picture a day for a year, and if i complete it, which i certainly hope i do, then i plan to have it printed into a book. Some days when i find it too hard to choose just one picture i will post more that the one picture. Hopefully it makes a great book to look back on when im older
Tuesday
Day 304 - Nathan's Burger
Nathan wanted burgers for dinner to night with the specific request of being on focaccia bread. I can't believe how big his ended up once he had everything he wanted on it. He did take some of it off to make it easier to eat. Why is it always the salad that gets sacrificed first?
Day 303 - Cupcake
This morning Maddie and I did some baking, which Maddie loved but struggled with the cooking and cooling time. While I was busy putting the Pattie Cases in the tin Maddie tried to double dip her beater, and was unimpressed that I wouldn't let her. Cheeky bugger!!
Sunday
Day 302 - Choppers
Leah and I went to Costco this morning and spotted these choppers at the army base as we drove past. As Simon and Grace popped over to look, on our way home we stopped to have a look with them and watch them take off. It was freaky how close the little chopper looked to the light pole and a heap of fun watching the big choppers take off. They generated so much wind we were nearly blown off our seat.
Day 301 - Cutie
I love this photo! It's not what I had planned to use today but when I looked through my photos I had to.
Saturday
Day 300 - Arts & Crafts
Little miss slacker has been super clingy and quiet this week preferring to stay at home in her PJ's snuggling. The huge increase of dribble and not allowing us to look in her mouth suggests teeth, but other than waking a bit more of a night we don't have any more symptoms. Today to convince Maddie to let me go, and get up, I set up arts and crafts, she thought it was pretty neat.
Day 299 - Losing Time
I keep running out of time in the day this week, and I think Pinterest is to blame. You could literally spend hours everyday looking at projects on it. I have beaten my addiction to the app once before I'm sure I can do it again. Aren't these stars neat!
Day 298 - Magnolia's
My magnolia plants that went in earlier this year have been nothing but trouble, and I was sure that they were all dying off. Turns out they are just temperamental buggers and were about to flower. Definitely a pleasant surprise and the flowers smell really pretty.
Wednesday
Day 297 - X-ray Ground Day
Today Mr Ground X-ray popped in to locate any obstacles that we may have for the extension and courtyard. Thankfully there is nothing in the way out the front, and the sewer line should be well out of the way also, which is a bonus. However all the cables and water for the shed run through the area we are building over. Hopefully when the surveyor comes late next week we will be able to quickly tell if they are going to be a problem of not. Gosh I hope they are out of the way!!
Photo is of one of the marker lines that we have in our yard to show where the troublesome cables lie.
Monday
Day 296 - A Small Step
Work officially started on the extension today with the arrival of a man to grind out our tree stumps. It is a pretty messy task, and while I appreciate that mess is necessary for the extension to occur, I really was not prepared for the yard full of wood chips that we now have. Yes I know that a huge amount of Nathan's 'landscaping' was covering everything with red wood chips but I have been working to get rid of them, and they were contained in a semi tidy way. It is so exciting knowing that things are underway, and that we are actually starting this year. The list of goals that I wrote out for this week, while optimistic are looking possible.
Day 295 - Imagination
Maddie's Imagination seems to be developing so fast at the moment, one minute she was pretending that every little object was a phone and suddenly she is playing babies, and pretending to feed toys. It seems like you blink your eyes and suddenly they know something new and I don't even notice. Gone are the days that we were excited by every little new movement or word, now I find a lot of the time I don't even realise that its new. It is awesome that Maddie is learning so much so fast, but makes me a little sad that it is happening and I'm not noticing it all anymore, they grow up way too fast
Saturday
Day 294 - Fashion?
It is finally warm, and I am loving it. I think Maddie is too, as she is allowed to wear whatever weird and wacky combination she can come up with at the moment. This morning she selected this nice white shirt so I had high hopes that we were moving past this crazy week of dressing, but it wasn't to be. Maddie was adamant that she needed to wear this dress up skirt from a bargain shop in Goulburn, along with the pair of red canvas shoes she chose, she looked a treat. After she had gotten crazy dirty digging around the rosemary bush again, I added a little water to one side of her ball pit. She had a great time diving from one pit to another, until she jumped feet first instead of belly first into the water side and kept sliding. It really scared her, and she was unimpressed that she was suddenly that wet. I cant wait for all of the summer games she can play this year.
Day 293 - Dirty!
Today Hugh and Claire, and Grace and Leah popped in for a play. It is awesome watching the kids interact with one another. They have developed so much and the three of them play so well together. Maddie and Hugh had a great time digging around the rosemary bush, but they got so dirty! I love the look that Hugh is giving Maddie as she shows me what she is eating.
It was lovely sitting outside on the paver's under the umbrella, its first use... finally!
Thursday
Day 292 - Teething Sucks!
Our little Miss Maddie is miserable at the moment as her last three molars are all moving. She got out of her bed this morning and climbed into bed with me where she lay (on my neck) for half an hour before asking for the TV to be turned on. We stayed in bed until 1020, then spent the rest of the day within arms reach of one another aside from while she slept, thankfully in her cot. Later in the afternoon I was allowed a little bit further away but not out of the room. It seems she substituted me for her bunny and teddy bear, both who have their socks in place for a sleep.
Wednesday
Day 291 - Sunnies
The only photo that I took today, is of Maddie actually wearing sunnies. She is finally old enough to think they are cool and love wearing. She wore them down to the supermarket normally, then on her head or stored on her shirt once we were there.
I meant to take a photo of the yummy lamb pizzas I made for dinner for Amy, Dad, Nathan, Maddie and I, but it didn't happen. I think Nathan is enjoying what seems like a week of birthday celebrations though.
Tuesday
Day 290 - Lazy Day
Some days Maddie is such a strange kid and today is no exception. She is getting molars at the moment and today must have been feeling pretty lousy as she got out of her bed to come to ours and stayed there until almost 11. As much as I appreciated the lay in, being yelled at every time I took the sock of my eyes was not fun!
When I asked Maddie if she wanted medicine she said yes please then went and lay on the lounge room floor. She obviously needed a blanket but it beats me why she didn't pick one of the ones right next to her, instead she raided the nappy bag for a change mat to use.
We had another fluke tonight with the potty. We sat Maddie on it before going to bed, after dinner out for Nathan's birthday and she did a poo! I was pretty excited until I thought about the clean up. That's going to take some getting used to.
Monday
Day 289 - Napkin Art
O.k so I figure in years to come when I look back on the printed out version of my blog that I am planning, I'm not going to want to see a picture of a potty with wee in it, but that is really what I'm
feeling the photo should be of. If only I had of thought to take one. Instead this is a picture of the flower I doodled while Nathan and I sat at the table after our yummy garlic prawn dinner.
Maddie did her first wee on the potty today, and I was so excited I struggled to stay calm and not squeal excitedly about it or cry, which I most likely would have done a combination of if Maddie wasn't in the room. We aren't trying to toilet train Maddie yet, neither of us are ready, she just sits on it occasionally and pretends to do a wee or poo, it is really quite funny to watch. Tonight she sat down, pulled a funny face and actually did something.
Sunday
Day 288 - Ball Pit
We pulled out the shell and the coloured balls for Maddie again today after having packed them away for months. She was pretty pleased with them and must have sat in the ball pit playing for at least half an hour. Hopefully I can add water to it on Tuesday when the weather is a bit warmer. I love this action shot of her getting ready to dive back down with the balls.
Day 287 - Sorting
Maddie just would not stay still for this photo today, we were sorting out her toy box to clear out some of the things that just needed to be thrown out. Maddie thought it was great having all her toys out and played with them all, one after the other, collecting every necklace she could find as she went. We managed to throw out a big bag of her toys, and another bag of old clothes of Nathan's which was exciting. Not sure how Nathan will feel about it when he gets home though.
Day 286 - Eek
This picture is of a stamp that's on every page of our plans for the extension which was officially approved today. I'm not sure if I am terrified or excited, eek is all I really have to say about it.
Friday
Day 285 - OH NO
So our non climber is starting to show an interest in developing her climbing skills. I thought it was bad she used one of her stools to stand on to try look out her window but now she is trying to climb in her cot. I hope this doesn't signify that the cots side is coming to an end. Maddie doesn't sleep already, I can't help but imagine how it will be when she can just walk out of bed and into us. As she doesn't like to sleep with us already I imagine it would end with one of us being jumped on while we tried to sleep.
Day 284 - No Photos
The only thing I took a photo of today was this pair of shoes, I love the colours pity about the anchor. I can't believe I haven't purchased any shoes in 5 months.
Thursday
Day 283 - Nanna
Maddie and I went for a zip down the highway today to take Nanna home. I convinced Nanna that we would take her so that I could visit the Christmas barn, but being a Tuesday, it is closed, so we just drove to Cooma. I am amazed by how bossy Maddie is getting the more she learns to talk, and today she seemed so much more demanding. In this photo she is telling Nanna to lay down with her, cover her with the towel, which is her blanket and pretend to sleep. That was after she demanded Nanna take her shoes off eat chips with her and play with the teddies. It is awesome that Maddie always remembers who she is when she pops in, and it is great to watch the two of them play together.
Wednesday
Day 282 - Bed Time Trials
Lately Maddie has been trying to delay going to bed and tonight was no exception. I thought that she was just getting her baby ready for bed so I let her play around a little, but it was soon obvious that she was planning to sleep in the lounge-room on her couch.
Sunday
Day 281 - Learning
While we were in Merimbula with the Morgans, Maddie and Grace buried dinosaurs in the sand for ages pretending they were waking up when they were no longer buried. So today when we went to the park after all our hard work all day, Maddie buried one of Grace's prized whales in the wood chip. It was pretty funny watching her get the mulch stuff from different areas of the playground, and I'm still amused by Simon's comment that she was importing it. It was a lovely day to be out in the sun, and a great start to daylight savings. I love this time of the year!
Day 280 - Bredbo Trip
As it was expected to rain all day we went for a trip to the Christmas barn and the Pizzeria at Bredbo. Maddie seems to be getting used to the giant Santa statues that are there but wasn't very patient while Nathan and I shopped. We were in and out in less than 45 minutes and Nathan managed to spend $267, if it was just me I think in 45 minutes I still wouldn't have picked something out.
Photo is of Maddie enjoying her orange juice.
Friday
Day 279 - Hanging Around
Miss Maddie didn't have a sleep today and one of her molars broke through the skin so it was a very, very long day. We spent a huge amount of it outside so Maddie was happier and I finally remembered to take the baby swing off one of her slides. I only had to show Maddie what to do once before she was swinging around like a monkey.
I have to say I love her choice in outfit too! My little dag!
Thursday
Day 278 - Park Play
We tried out a new park today that Leah had recommended to us that's hidden away behind a whole heap of houses. To get to it you have to drive down a long driveway that doesn't look like it belongs to a park, and I would never have noticed it if it wasn't for the great directions. Maddie, Hugh and Hunter had a great time playing on the equipment and playing chasers. I think Miss Maddie feels a bit gypped that I wont allow her to play with sticks though, which meant the boys weren't allowed either, but I still remember seeing a little boy with a stick in his eye from when I was in high school.
Day 277 - Garden
Maddie and I finally finished planting the Cordyline's in the garden under where the fence has been replaced. It took is so long as I am trying to get rid of all the red tanbark that's everywhere and the green bin just gets too heavy with loads of it in there. Hopefully all of the plants survive the Summer this year. I am pretty happy with how tidy the garden looks, it will be even better when the iris' stand back up.
Day 276 - Last minute photo
As I went to go to bed tonight I realised that I hadn't taken a photo today. Maddie just looked too cute to not use her as my photo again which saved me hunting for something interesting to take a photo of at 11pm when I wanted to go to bed.
Monday
Day 275 - Fence
Nathan did a fair amount of work on our new front fence today. It was hard work for me carrying all the wood around, holding it all while it was being cut and handing out all the tools but I survived! It's looking really tidy, I love it!
Day 274 - Nachos
We have been clean eating this past week and some of the food has actually been really nice. I'm loving the healthy Nacho's.
Day 273 - A New Project
Today Nathan started to make our front yard into a courtyard but he didn't get very far as he had to drive to the coast and back to help Mark. We also have Bianca visiting us for the weekend, Maddie took to her very quickly.
